Canada Day in Beaverton is always something special, and this year was no exception. It is an honor to serve as a Beaverton Lion, but it feels especially rewarding on Canada Day when our community comes together to celebrate everything that makes our hometown so great.
The day started bright and early at 6:30 a.m. setting up for our annual Community Pancake Breakfast and didn't wrap up until after 11:00 p.m. It was a long day, but there’s no better way to spend Canada Day than surrounded by friends, neighbours, and fellow volunteers.
Mother Nature tried to put a damper on the festivities when a storm rolled through and nearly took our tents with her! But like any great community, we regrouped, secured everything safely, and as soon as the storm passed and conditions allowed, the BBQs were fired back up and the celebrations continued. A little wind and rain weren't going to stop Beaverton from celebrating Canada Day.
There wasn’t much time to stop and take photos, but the memories will last a lifetime. From serving pancakes in the morning to cooking burgers and hot dogs in the evening, every moment was filled with smiling faces and community spirit. We enjoyed great music from Hip Check, watched families and friends gather, and capped off the evening with an incredible fire and LED light show. Of course, the grand finale was the spectacular fireworks display lighting up the night sky.
What an amazing day celebrating Canada, community, and friendship. A heartfelt thank you to the Beaverton Lions. Your dedication to service, volunteerism, and making events like this possible does not go unnoticed. I am proud to be part of such an incredible organization and such an amazing hometown.
